Homegrown talent runs deep in Canada. That fact was on display at professional bullfighter Ty Prescott's Ranch. Country music recording artist Brett Kissel and his management and content team gathered at ground zero of bull riding in Canada, the Prescott Ranch. Legends of the sport in Canada have practised, worked, and lived on the Prescott Ranch, and yesterday two communities came together at that sacred place near Strathmore, Alberta.

PBR professionals, Canadian bull riding legends, and the next generation were all on hand to hold your typical practice pen you can find all over the West — but this time to play backdrop to the filming of Kissel’s latest hit song’s music video, Cowboys and Dreamers. Alongside Western Canada’s premier western wear and lifestyle brand Lammle’s, magic was made. From Kissel and his film crew including videographer, Travis Nesbitt taking to the arena while PBR World Finalists Ashton Sahli and Brock Radford tuned up, to an evening around the fire telling stories and playing music, it was a day that I won’t forget any time soon.

But the icing on the cake was the moment that Kissel himself asked to nod his head on the back of a bucking bull. We’ve all had that friend talk about wanting to get on a bucking bull to prove something, but Kissel put his money where his mouth is. Wearing a combination of Sahli’s boots and spurs and Radford’s vest and chaps, the immensely proud Albertan would ride his bucking bull opponent much, much further than anyone on site thought he would. I don’t think many question whether or not Kissel is a cowboy, but it’s impossible to deny today.

With Canadian bull riding legend Don Johansen giving a quick five-minute lesson before he nodded his head, what started as a fun day of working with friends to help build a music video turned into a gathering of fast friends and formative experiences.

Yesterday gave a new definition to Live Your Own West. Stay tuned for both a music video for Kissel’s hit song, as well as a Lammle’s ad coming later this year.
