As the chilly winds of winter sweep through, it's not just our wardrobe that needs extra layers but also our immune system that requires a boost to ward off the winter blues. Here at Lammle's, some of our team members at the Customer Service Centre swear by a special wellness shot recipe that keeps us feeling good and creative, even on the coldest days! Today we're sharing Nicole, Chief Operating Officer's, personal recipe.
Why Wellness Shots?
Wellness shots are concentrated beverages made with potent ingredients packed with vitamins, antioxidants, and other health-boosting properties. They’re a quick and effective way to inject some added nutrients into your day—perfect for when you need to keep up with the demands of a busy, healthy lifestyle.
This is not just any recipe—it's a powerhouse tonic packed with citrus, turmeric, and ginger, designed to boost your health and invigorate your senses. Nicole swears by this simple yet effective concoction, and she's been kind enough to let us in on her secret mix.
Nicole's Citrus-Turmeric Wellness Shot
Ingredients:
• 1 orange
• 2 lemons
• ¼ cup fresh turmeric
• ¼ fresh grated ginger root
• 1/8 tsp black pepper
• ¼ tsp olive oil
Instructions:
1. Start by peeling the orange and lemons. Skin the ginger and turmeric and throw all the fresh produce into a juicer.
2. Once juiced, stir in the black pepper and olive oil—these help enhance the absorption of turmeric's beneficial compounds.
3. Pour the mixture into 2ounce air tight containers & seal (because the orange loses it nutrient value every time it’s exposed to air.) Store it in the refrigerator. It's best used within 5 days to ensure maximum freshness and potency.
Pro Tips:
• Orange and lemon vitamins degrade quickly when exposed to air, so storing the juice in airtight containers is crucial.
• No juicer? No problem! Blend the ingredients and strain the mixture through a fine sieve. You might need to add a little water to facilitate the process.
• For an extra kick of flavor and nutrients, freeze your ginger and turmeric before juicing. Defrost them when you're ready to make the drink; this method works wonders, especially if you're using a blender.
• Beware of turmeric’s vibrant color—it can stain. Consider wearing gloves if you want to avoid yellow hands.
• Don’t toss the pulp left after juicing! It's excellent for steeping as tea or can be frozen to add to smoothies.
Nicole’s final advice: “Honestly, I don’t measure anything—I just throw it all together. Turmeric has a bit of a bite, so be cautious not to add too much. Oh, and one more thing—if you’re juicing, save the leftover pulp. It’s great for steeped tea or can be added to smoothies.”
Try out this zesty wellness shot for a daily boost that keeps you running at your best, just like it does for Nicole at Lammle's!
